Heritage Le Telfair awarded at the 9th World Golf Awards

Another fantastic achievement for Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort. This luxury establishment, part of Heritage Resorts, located in Bel Ombre, Mauritius, has been awarded the title of Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Hotel at the World Golf Awards. The 9th edition of this prestigious golfing event took place from 14 to 16 November 2022 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The award coincides with Heritage Golf Club’s announcement that it will open its second course, La Réserve Golf Links, an exceptional 18-hole GEO-certified course and the first and only contemporary links course in the Indian Ocean, in December 2023.

For Dominique Grel, recently appointed General Manager of Heritage Le Telfair, this recognition is a source of pride for him and his team. “It is with great joy and a sense of satisfaction that we welcome this news. The golf segment is experiencing a significant post-pandemic boom and to be recognised at regional level is a major achievement for Heritage Le Telfair. We serve this niche and demanding clientele with particular attention and unparalleled refinement. We would like to thank our customers and our staff, who trust us on a daily basis and who have made this recognition possible.”

As for Jonathan Menteath, General Manager of Heritage Golf Club, this award crowns the exclusive and integrated golfing experience offered by Heritage Resorts: “Our two world-class courses, the Château golf course and La Réserve Golf Links which will open in December 2023, make Heritage Golf Club and Bel Ombre the only 45-hole golfing destination in the Indian Ocean. The accommodation offer is also exceptional, with no less than two top of the range hotels, Heritage Le Telfair and Heritage Awali, as well as luxury villas. It is this quality offering and service that is now being recognised and celebrated.”

Commenting on the accolade, Chris Frost, Managing Director of the World Golf Awards, calls Heritage Le Telfair “the jewel in the crown of the Indian Ocean luxury golfing experience”. “This award is a welldeserved award. Mauritius is evolving into a golf destination of global importance, not only attracting European golfers seeking a new challenge, but visitors from further afield, keen to blend the magic of the Indian Ocean with world-class golf. Worth mentioning is the eagerly anticipated second course at Heritage Golf Club, La Réserve Golf Links, which will provide the Indian Ocean’s first and only links-style course, and therefore an undisputed reason to put Heritage on your must-visit list,” he adds.

This award comes as La Réserve Golf Links, the second course at Heritage Golf Club, is announced. Designed by South African champion Louis Oosthuizen and renowned architect Peter Matkovich, this exceptional 18-hole championship course will also be GEO Certified, meaning it will meet the global standard for sustainable course design and construction. The Reserve Golf Links will host its first international competition when it opens, with the 2023 edition of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Many of the world’s leading golfers are expected to attend this DP World Tour event, which promises to be a thrilling affair.
