Pure golfing drama

The official evening event witnessed a star-studded gathering, including professional players, sponsors, industry experts, and event organizers. Heritage Awali, with its enchanting atmosphere, hosted a convivial evening of camaraderie and shared enthusiasm, setting the tone for the upcoming days of competition.

During the opening ceremony, Donald Payen, Chairman of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), addressed the audience, emphasizing the significance of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open for the tourism industry in Mauritius. “AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is an important event for our tourism industry, and Mauritius

Tourism has been a proud supporter from the start. But the power of this event goes beyond tourism and provides tremendous exposure to Mauritius and what it stands for. It offers a platform for the Mauritius brand to shine on the world stage through the collective efforts of one and all,” says Donald Payen.

“Your collective efforts, professionalism, and passion allow us to showcase Mauritius at its best, not only for the game but also for the exceptional course recently inaugurated – La Reserve Golf Links – and for the great destination in a destination brand that Bel Ombre has turned out to be in slightly over 20 years AND a region we can all be proud of,” adds Donald Payen, addressing golfers, the DP World Tour, and the Sunshine Tour, as well as sponsors, local organizers, and all those working behind the scenes.

As the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open 2023 unfolds on the newly-opened La Réserve Golf Links, it promises not only pure golfing drama but also a celebration of Mauritius as a destination that seamlessly blends natural beauty, hospitality, and sporting excellence. As the competition progresses, the eyes of the world turn to Mauritius, showcasing the island as a premier golf destination on the global stage.
