This Sunday 8 March, from 10am, Heritage Resorts & Golf will transform Place du Moulin in Bel Ombre into a space for expression, education, civic engagement and artistic creation. To mark International Women’s Rights Day, the hotel group is inviting its team members, guests and residents of the South to come together around a powerful message: gender equality is a shared responsibility, built through dialogue, awareness and concrete action.
This day reflects the group’s commitment to social sustainability and community inclusion, as part of the “Now for Tomorrow” programme of ER Hospitality, which owns the hotel brand.
“8 March should not simply be a symbolic date, but an anchor point. We believe that a responsible company does not limit itself to generating economic value; it actively contributes to changing mindsets and strengthening the social fabric. By mobilising our community around women’s rights, we affirm that respect, equality, equity and dignity lie at the heart of the tourism model we advocate for the future of Mauritius,” highlights Corinne Stoutenbeek, Chief Sustainability Officer at ER Hospitality.
The day’s programme includes discussion workshops on identity: Emilie Rivet from Konekte will lead a session on the theme “Who am I?”, while Gaëlle Schluchter from LespriSexy will address the issue of consent. There will also be collective creative workshops, including the preparation of awareness placards, the creation of a community canvas and a collaborative mural; educational exhibitions retracing the history of women’s emancipation; and the “What I Wore” installation, which challenges stereotypes and raises awareness of gender-based violence. The event will conclude with an exhibition designed to encourage dialogue and strengthen community cohesion.
For many years, ER Hospitality has been actively committed to supporting the women of Bel Ombre through the group’s various entities. It implements educational support programmes, wellbeing activities such as Zumba sessions, and initiatives that foster professional independence. The group also supports initiatives such as “Aprann”, the employability programme of ER Group, thereby strengthening opportunities for inclusion and sustainable development within the Bel Ombre community.
