Jarry and his family explored the Bel Ombre Nature Reserve, where they discovered a rich biodiversity. But their adventure story didn’t stop there. They also visited the newly inaugurated Heritage Marine Education Centre. They learned about the interdependence between the forest and the ocean, an essential link in the ‘ridge to reef’ approach.
‘I found it fascinating to observe the coexistence of the mountains and the sea. These moments remind us just how precious nature is,’ says Jarry. These educational and immersive experiences add an eco-responsible and enriching dimension to every visitor’s stay.
A Tribute to Mauritian Culture
At Heritage Awali, local flavours and traditions come to life. Jarry recalls: ‘I discovered Mauritian gastronomy: amazing fish, rice, spices… I put on a few kilos, but it was worth it!’ And what would a holiday be without dancing the sega, the island’s traditional dance? ‘I do it very, very badly, but it’s a kind of tribute,’ he jokes.
