Travelling demands a fair amount of organization and a budget, not to mention picking the right place to stay. Does checking in to one of the gorgeous Heritage Resorts hotels sound tempting? We’ve got you covered. Here are 8 questions (and answers) travellers ask themselves about the five-star hotel chain.
1. Do your rooms cater to families?
Though we don’t have family-specific rooms, we do have alternatives. At Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort, the Deluxe rooms can accommodate up to two children on a sofa bed. You can also book an adjoining Deluxe room to accommodate two or three children (and have some alone-time as well). The Senior Suites are furnished with a sofa bed for two. Our favorite is the Heritage Awali 310 square meter beachfront villa because it accommodates four adults and two children or adolescents. In any case you may request a cot upon your arrival.
At Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort, the Deluxe rooms, equipped with two pull-out beds, can accommodate two children. You may also book an adjoining room (like at Heritage Awali) to accommodate up to three children. The Junior Suites can only accommodate a baby but if your kids are older then you can book an adjoining Deluxe room. The Senior and Océan rooms are furnished with two pull-out beds, accommodating two of your little ones. Note that the Océan suites can connect to the Deluxe beachfront rooms.
If you are a close-knit family travelling together and want to have family time we suggest one of our splendid villas – each has its own manicured garden and swimming pool. For more information on Heritage The Villas, click here: https://www.heritageresorts.mu/mauritius-hotels/the-villas
2. What activities are there to do nearby?
Before adventuring outside your hotel, you may want to check out the Domaine de Bel Ombre, a 2,500-ha property on which Heritage Resorts is situated. The 2,500-ha natural haven offers plenty to do – from a round of golf (the course is ranked first in the Indian Ocean region) to a treatment at one of the two spas, from the happening beach club to the kitesurfing school, from the water-sports club to a 1,300-ha nature park and vast lagoon… There is plenty to do!
If you are still feeling adventurous, here are some suggestions: La Vanille Nature Park (the kids love this one); the Baie du Cap route, ranked among the Top 10 most gorgeous routes by the Petit Futé guide; the Seven Coloured Earths and Curious Corner in Chamarel; Le Morne Brabant mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage site; the Bois Chéri tea route; Grand Bassin’s sacred lake; the Black River Gorges National Park; Casela World of Adventures; Le Souffleur; Gris-Gris and its beach; the Rochester Falls…
You may also book Heritage Le Telfair’s Range Rover (the ride comes with a knowledgeable driver) to discover the island’s hidden spots.
3. Do the rates include transfers?
It all depends on how you made your booking.
If you book a room directly via our website, you can select “transfer.” The cost for this service will automatically be added to your bill.
If you book a room via a third-party online platform, you can e-mail resa@heritageresorts.mu to schedule a transfer at an additional cost.
If you go through a travel agency, the agency will schedule the transfer for you upon request.
4. Are drinks included in the half-board formula?
Drinks are not included, however if you want to make your life a little easier, you may want to think about our All-Inclusive package at Heritage Awali or our Gourmet Bliss package at Heritage Le Telfair.
5. What is the weather like in Mauritius?
Mauritius’ tropical climate means there are two seasons: a southern summer from October to April and a southern winter from May to September.
During the months of October, November and December, the temperature can reach a 28 degree high during the daytime. The summery nights are balmy and the sea is warm (about 26 degrees). Come December, the climate is hot and rather dry. January, February and March are humid, hot months with temperatures reaching 30 degrees and the sea, 28 degrees. In April, the climate is dry again and the heat has simmered down. The nights are pleasant and the sea’s temperature is about 26 degrees again. During the winter, the temperature is around 25 degrees. The nights are cooler with temperatures that can reach a 15 degree low in the center of the island. Rain is sparse with a rare drizzle and the sea is about 24 degrees. The rainy season and tropical storms usually occur from January to March.
6. Is there a dress code?
Five star hotels do tend to require a specific dress code at meal times.
At Heritage Awali, as from 6.30pm, en elegant attire is required: pants or bermudas, closed toe shoes and shirts with a collar for the men.
At Heritage Le Telfair, an elegant attire is required as from 7.00pm: pants, closed toe shoes and shirts with a collar for the men.
7. What if I want a specific room or an upgrade?
Although all of our rooms are aesthetically designed and pleasing, you may have different demands. Some prefer to be near the restaurants for convenience whereas others would rather be far from the bustle.
To answer your question – Heritage Resorts will try its best to meet your requirements (this however is dependent on room availability). To sleep in your dream hotel room, book in advance or let the hotel know your preference as soon as you have confirmed your booking by e-mailing at resa@heritageresorts.mu.
8. Can I get an early check-in or a late check-out?
Again it all depends on room availability. For instance if you have booked a Senior Beachfront suite at Heritage Awali (of which there are only five) and the room is occupied, it will be quite impossible to offer you an Early Check-In. Besides, once the occupant has checked out, our housekeeping team will busy itself to prepare the room for your arrival.
The same rule applies for late check-outs. If your room has been assigned to someone arriving the day you are leaving (check-in is at 2.00pm) the hotel will not be able to offer you a late check-out. If however an early check-in or late check-out is possible, the rate is 50 % of the room fee.
If your flight takes off or lands early morning or late at night, we suggest you book an additional night to secure a room. The hotel does however have a departures and baggage room so you can shower and rest before catching your flight.
